Mike Leake, who has been playing on Team USA this summer, displayed what he is capable of at the plate today. Leake was one of 7 Americans to homer against Lithuania in a 30-1 route. Playing in Ostrava, Czech Republic, Leake had a 4 RBI game, 3 of them coming on his 1st home run of international play. Team USA is currently 17-0.
Leake got the start today at 3B over Fresno State's Tommy Mendonca, who was the toast of Omaha this year with his stellar play at third base. He continues to struggle in the field, with a fielding percentage of .885. Leake is hitting .261, but his best work by far has been on the mound, where he is 2-0 in 6 appearances (1 start), with a 0.90 ERA and a K/9 ratio of just a hair under 9.
