Is Rudy ASU's best ever?

I'll have a more in-depth piece later on this week on this topic...I don't have the time to do it now. I'm up in Flagstaff all week covering that other big time football team that plays in the Valley of the Sun, severely taking my time away from covering ASU football.

I had to take some time to post this article that the Republic's Dan Bickley had this week, comparing Rudy Carpenter to the bigger names in the history of Sun Devil quarterbacks. Statistically, he's up there with Andrew Walter, Danny White, Jeff van Raaphorst and such. However, in my opinion, Rudy still lacks that big game win that White and Rapper had (still an APB out for A-Dub's...I GUESS you can count the 2002 win at Oregon).

I'm also rather impressed by Carpenter's sudden jump of 20 pounds since the pounding he took in San Diego last December. I'll have to wait to see how much bigger he really looks when ASU opens camp next week.
For now, read the article and judge for yourself.

I don't care what the numbers say. Rudy is not an elite quarterback. He folds like a lawn chair.
