Our boy Rudy Carpenter is getting more honors from the exciting world of Award Watch Lists.
It was announced a short time ago that Carpenter is on the list of 35 to watch for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, which is given every year to the National Player of the Year, or at least the one voted on by the 119 college football head coaches and their SID's.
The Camp Award is the 4th oldest college football honor and has been given away annually since 1967. O.J. Simpson won the first one and he and Archie Griffin are the only players to ever win it twice.
11 quarterbacks have won the award: Jim Plunkett, Pat Sullivan, Doug Flutie, Vinny Testaverde, Gino Torretta, Charlie Ward, Danny Wuerffel, Josh Heupel, Eric Crouch, Matt Leinart and Troy Smith.
Carpenter is joined on the list by 2 other Pac-10 players; Rey Maualuga (USC) and Nick Reed (Oregon).
Here's the complete Watch List.
